The highest peak of the Vienna Woods. At the easily accessible summit stands the Matras viewpoint, from where, in favorable weather, you can see to the south the highest mountains of Lower Austria, Schneeberg (2076 m) and Rax (2007 m), to the west Ötscher (1893 m), and to the north the Danube valley. A notable feature on the Danube is the Dürnrohr power plant.
Just below the summit at an elevation of 870 m is the Schöpfl-Schutzhaus mountain hut. On the nearby hill Mitterschöpfl (882 m), the University of Vienna built the Leopold Figl Observatory in 1969.
