The mountain is covered with glaciers (Glacier de Corbassière) and can be dangerous due to serac collapses. The summit can be reached from Cabane Marcel Brunet (2103 m), Cabane de Panossière (2645 m), Cabane de Valsorey (3037 m), and Bivacco Biagio Musso (3664 m) on the Swiss side, and from Rifugio Franco Chiarella all'Amianthe (2979 m) on the Italian side.

The mountain has three summits:
Eastern – Combin de Valsorey (4184 m)
Western – Grand Combin de la Tsessette (4135 m)
Central – Grand Combin de Grafeneire (4314 m)

The first ascent was made in 1857 by Benjamin Felley, Maurice Felley, and Jouvence Bruchez.
The easiest route has a difficulty rating of AD-.
