The FXB Panossière hut is the fifth hut built in Panossière.
The first hut was built under the rock wall in 1881, followed by a wooden shelter in 1893. In 1969, a stone shelter was constructed, but it was destroyed by an avalanche in 1988. This was replaced by a temporary shelter until the current hut was built and officially opened in 1996 with the support of the FXB Foundation.
The true avant-garde design represents a high-altitude hut providing simple comfort. It is not a mountain hotel; FXB Panossière remains a refuge for tourists and climbers.
In fact, at this altitude, supplying electricity, heating, and water can sometimes be problematic, despite the sophistication of modern technologies.
