The structure, a kind of eagle's nest, quietly guards the Alta Valle Antrona at an altitude of 2650 meters and is located on the Alta Via, which leads between secured trails and challenging ridges to the summit of Pizzo Andolla (mt. 3654) and towards the Swiss Simplon Valley. Bivak Città di Varese is designed to provide shelter for up to nine people and is ready to offer hospitality to many climbers and hikers visiting these mountains, as well as those coming from nearby Switzerland, who can stay here for free as training in CAI bivouacs.
