Kalø Slotsruin is the remains of a medieval castle that stands on a peninsula in the Kalø Vig bay in Denmark. It was built in 1313 by King Erik Menved as part of a defensive strategy against rebels, and is accessed via the longest surviving medieval cobblestone road in the country, which is surrounded by the waters of the bay. The site is freely accessible and popular with tourists who come here to enjoy the peace, nature and atmosphere of ancient Viking times and perhaps hear the call of Valhalla, where the valiant warriors of these lands live forever.
